Merrill and his wife are the neighbors of Jackson Curtis, living in a nearby apartment complex. It's mentioned that they were previously living in Wisconsin before moving to Los Angeles. It's presumed they died when the massive earthquake hit L.A. with no signs they could've gotten out of the city. The wife was played by Mary Gillis, it is currently unknown who played Merrill.
