Japan is a island country in the northeastern Orient. It's a bit of the setting for the film 2012.
In the film, it's mentioned that Tony Delgatto's son Wil moved there and started a family without Including Tony. Some unknown area is shown briefly when Tony calls his family, then an earthquake hits.
It's reported on the news that Tokyo was hit by a massive earthquake and much of the country is flooded by tsunamis.
