Honolulu was the capital and largest city of the U.S. state of Hawaii.

During the 2012 Apocalypse, Honolulu was hit by earthquakes of unprecedented strength and then the Hawaiian hotspot erupted, resulting in the once famous city of Honolulu to be engulfed entirely by lava. The rest of Hawaii's volcanoes erupted which engulfed the entire islands of Hawaii, rendering them uninhabitable.
It was going to be the fuel stop for the Antonov 500 in Hawaii, but when the Curtis family, Karpov family, Tamara, and Sasha were nearing closer to the state, they saw that the islands were obliterated by major volcanic eruptions and lava flows. With no chance of refuelling the plane, they're forced to make a water landing somewhere in the South China Sea.
The ruins of Honolulu and the Hawaiian Islands were later swept by a mega-tsunami during the Worldwide Flooding
