During the 2012 Apocalypse, Africa is risen several thousand feet, allowing it to survive the worldwide flooding.
The Cape of Good Hope became the set course for the Arks after the floodwaters started receding worldwide, making the Drakensberg Mountains the tallest mountain range in the world.
